To become a really good shooter, you will need an electronic timer. During live fire, this timer will record total time for a string of shots, time for first shot, and splits between shots. In the par time mode, you can use it in dry-fire practice to improve speed for different tasks.
I use and recommend Competition Electronics Pocket Pro as the best timer for the money for use by Cowboy Action Shooters®. It has a large easy to read display, a big clip that allows attachment to your holster, belt, etc. It has a delayed start feature which allows you to push start and then get yourself ready before the buzzer goes so you can practice by yourself. The par time feature is my favorite. I do a lot of dry-fire using this feature. You set the par time to a time you are trying for, say a draw in two seconds. At the start buzz, you do your draw and the timer emits a second buzz at two seconds (or whatever par time you set.) You can adjust the par time up or down to your needs.
The owner of Competition Electronics, Rip Roarn is a top Cowboy Action Shooter® who knows and appreciates the needs of the shooter and this product reflects the thought that went into its development.
